CHICAGO — An 86-year-old man died after being found with a gunshot wound in his Canaryville home Thursday, police said.
Fire department responders initially thought the man had a "puncture wound" in the back of his head when they found him in the 4100 block of South Wallace Street around 4:04 p.m.
He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he died.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office later ruled he died of a gunshot wound to his head. They also identified him as Donald L. McNamara.
No one is in custody.
