Delano Jones, 38, Shot Dead Just After Walking Outside His Home

CHICAGO — A 38-year-old man was shot to death in Chicago Lawn on Monday, police said.

At 12:01 p.m. Monday, the man walked out of his home and was getting into his car in the 7200 block of South Artesian Avenue when an SUV pulled up next to him, police said. Someone got out of the SUV and fired shots at the man.

The man was hit multiple times and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

Delano Jones, of the same block where he was shot, was pronounced dead at 12:33 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed he died from multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.

No one was in custody.
