CHICAGO — Shootings have wounded five people since Wednesday morning, police said.

• At 10:14 p.m. Wednesday, a 19-year-old man was shot in South Deering, police said. The man was walking on the sidewalk in the 9800 block of South Jeffery Avenue when someone walked up to him and fired shots.

The man was hit in his left calf and was taken to Trinity Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

At 6:41 p.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in Pilsen.

• At 4:30 p.m., a 25-year-old man was shot in Austin, police said. The man was in a car in the 4700 block of West Maypole Avenue when several people walked up to him and fired shots.

The man was hit in his stomach and was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.

The man is a documented gang member, a police source said.

• At 1:45 p.m., a 25-year-old man was shot in Back of the Yards, police said. The man was walking down the sidewalk in the 5100 block of South Lowe Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain.

The man was hit in his left hand and he took himself to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition, police said.

• At 12:06 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot in Calumet Heights, police said. The boy was in the 9300 block of South Clyde Avenue when he was shot in his back.

The boy took himself to Trinity Hospital, police said.

Information about what led up to the shooting and the boy's condition was not immediately available, police said.

No one was in custody in these shootings.
