LOGAN SQUARE — The new Logan Square location of Buzz: Killer Espresso will open Sept. 1, co-owner Stefan Hersh said.

The coffee shop is joining a booming stretch of Milwaukee Avenue that has become home to a slew of new businesses in recent years including Hopewell Brewing Company, Chiya Chai Cafe, All Star Press and Unanimous Boxing Gym, to name a few.

Hersh runs the cafe with his partner and general manager, Agnes Otworowski. In March, the pair announced Buzz would be leaving its Wicker Park location at 1644 N. Damen Ave. for a larger Logan Square storefront at 2779 Milwaukee Ave. to "expand [its] range of offerings."

"The cafe in Wicker Park faced logistical challenges that made such expansion too impractical to seriously contemplate," Hersh previously said. "We looked for alternate locations for a couple of years before settling on a terrific space."

Along with the new cafe, Hersh previously said that Buzz is developing a roastery and commercial kitchen on the Northwest Side that will serve as a production facility to deliver food and coffee to the new Logan Square cafe, wholesale accounts and a new catering business.

More details, including a cafe menu, will be released in the coming weeks ahead of the opening.
