Tony Haywood, 25, Shot To Death In Avalon Park

CHICAGO — A man was found shot to death in Avalon Park on Monday night, police said.

At 9:40 p.m., officers responding to a call of shots fired found the man lying in a vacant lot in the 7900 block of South South Chicago Avenue, police said. The man had been shot several times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was identified as Tony Haywood, 25, of the 100 block of South Indiana Avenue, in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. Haywood was pronounced dead at 9:55 p.m. and an autopsy showed he died from multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.

A car was seen driving away from the scene, police said, but its make and model were not immediately available.

No one was in custody.
