CHICAGO — A 28-year-old man was shot to death in North Lawndale early Thursday, police said.
At 12:20 a.m., the man was standing in the street in the 3100 block of West Lexington Street when someone fired shots at him, police said.
The man was hit multiple times and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, police said.
Laquante Smith, of the 5200 block of West Lexington Street, was pronounced dead at 2:24 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed he died from multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.
No one was in custody.
