North Lawndale Shooting Wounds 3, Leads To 4 Police Being Injured In Crash

CHICAGO — Three people were shot and several police officers injured in a related crash in North Lawndale on Saturday night, police said.

At 9:37 p.m., three men were inside a car in the 4200 block of West Roosevelt Road when a gray car pulled alongside them and someone inside fired shots, police said.

The victims continued to drive and hit several cars in the intersection of Roosevelt Road and Independence Avenue, police said.

A 22-year-old man was hit several times in the right side of his body and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, police said.

A 25-year-old man was hit in his left thigh and an 18-year-old man had his head grazed by a bullet and was taken to Stroger Hospital. They were taken to Stroger Hospital, where their conditions were not available but they were listed as "stable," police said.

Two police cars responding to the incident hit each other, which led to four officers being taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Several other people were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

No one was in custody.
