Heart Of Chicago, Near West Side Shootings Wound 2 People

CHICAGO — Shootings in Heart of Chicago and Near West Side have wounded two people since Thursday, police said.

• At 1 a.m. Friday, a 19-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in Heart of Chicago, police said. The man was in the 2300 block of West 19th Street when his left leg was grazed by a bullet.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

The man was uncooperative with officers, a police source said, and the circumstances of the shooting were unknown.

The man was a documented gang member, a police source said.

• At 2:58 p.m. Thursday, a 25-year-old man was shot in Near West Side, police said. The man was sitting outside in the 200 block of South Western Avenue when someone walked up, fired shots and ran away.

The man ran to the 2400 block of West Adams and then took himself to Stroger Hospital, police said. He had been hit in his head and was in critical condition.

The man was a documented gang member, a police source said.

No one was in custody in these shootings.
