CHICAGO — A 17-year-old has been charged with carjacking an FBI agent's SUV Monday, police said.
The teen was arrested at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, a day after the SUV — with guns and a bulletproof vest inside — was stolen in the West Loop, police said. The SUV was found that night in the 900 block of South Leavitt Street, where the car had been ticketed, according to the Tribune.
The car and its contents were being processed, FBI spokesman John Althen said, and the investigation is ongoing.
The SUV was taken about 12:09 a.m. Monday when the driver left the engine running and walked away for a moment in the 300 block of South Morgan Street, police said. The teen got into the SUV and sped off as the agent tried to get the SUV back, police said. The agent was dragged by the SUV.
The SUV contained several guns, tactical gear and a ballistic vest, an FBI spokesman said.
Some of that equipment was found in a car Monday, but officials said they hadn't found the guns, according to the Tribune.
The teen has been charged with vehicular hijacking, aggravated battery of a government employee and unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle, police said.
