CHICAGO — Two men were injured when they crashed into an empty Chicago Police squad car at the Oak Street curve on Lake Shore Drive early Tuesday morning, according to police.

At 3:36 p.m., the men were in a "small compact car" when they struck the car, police said.

Both men were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where they were treated for "non-life threatening injuries," police said.

The squad car was reportedly parked in the expressway due to an earlier accident.

Two southbound lanes were closed after the men crashed into the squad car but later reopened, according to Officer Brandi Wright, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.
