Lisa Fischer, 49, And Man Dead After Skyway Murder-Suicide

By Kelly Bauer | June 21, 2017 7:17am | Updated on June 23, 2017 12:39pm

CHICAGO — A 49-year-old woman was killed and a 30-year-old man took his own life on the Skyway early Wednesday, police said.

At 4:11 a.m., the woman and man were driving east on the Chicago Skyway near 88th Street when the woman ran from the car, police said. The man got out of the car — which was still moving — and fired shots at the woman.

The car crashed into a wall further along the Skyway, police said, and an officer responding to the incident saw the man running toward his car.

The officer told the man to stop, and the man took out a gun and shot himself in his head, police said.

The man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The woman was identified as Lisa Fischer, of suburban Broadview, in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. An autopsy showed she died from multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide and was pronounced dead at 4:30 a.m.

The man was identified as Christopher Pena, of the 100 block of North Mayfield, in Medical Examiner's Office records. Pena was pronounced dead at 4:30 a.m. and an autopsy showed he died from a gunshot wound in his head in a suicide.

Eastbound Skyway lanes were closed in the morning, police said, but they were open by 9:45 a.m.
