DOWNTOWN — The city will see shattered thunderstorms just in time for rush hour on Monday.
Rain showers and thunderstorms started Monday afternoon and were expected to last into the evening, said Kevin Donofrio, a National Weather Service meteorologist.
There were reports of small hail and gusty winds up to 35 mph, but the storm wasn't expected to drop any significant amount of rain on Chicago since they were "quickly moving," Donofrio said.
"It'll be briefly, heavily raining and then it will stop," Donofrio said of the storms.
There was another chance of rain showers on Tuesday afternoon, Donofrio said. Wednesday was expected to be dry, but there were occasional chances of rain throughout the rest of the week.
