CHICAGO — A home invasion was foiled when children who were home quickly called police, leading to the arrest of two burglars in Norwood Park late Thursday morning, officials said.
Around 10:35 a.m., officers responded to a call from residents in the 6800 block of West Hobart Avenue that two men had broken into their home, according to a Chicago Police statement.
When the break-in occurred, "young girls" inside the home ran into the bathroom, locked the door and called police, according to Chris Vittorio, the chief of staff for 41st Ward Ald. Anthony Napolitano.
The officers chased the burglars on foot and arrested them both "without further incident," police said. Charges are pending.
"The 16th district was amazing," Vittorio said. "They got there almost immediately."
A third suspect fled the scene in a blue car, Vittorio added.
The girls were not hurt during the break-in, police said.
