LINCOLN SQUARE — A lightning strike during Wednesday's storms sent bricks falling onto Lawrence Avenue.

"I was right there when it happened! I thought my car got hit by lightning for a second. It was super scary!!" a neighbor reported on Facebook.

The damaged building is in the 2400 block of West Lawrence Avenue, near Western Avenue.

On Wednesday evening, the sidewalk was roped off with caution tape and guarded by a Chicago police patrol car. By Thursday morning, the debris had been cleared and the building was secured with scaffolding.

Scaffolding is up to protect pedestrians. [All photos DNAinfo/Patty Wetli]

Most of the debris has been cleared, but some chunks of fallen brick remain in the street.
