Police Issue Alert After 4 Robberies in Douglas

CHICAGO — Police are warning residents the Near South Douglas neighborhood to be aware of their surroundings after several June robberies.

In these incidents, a group of three to nine people approached the victims on the street and demanded their belongings before running off.

The offenders are described as Black males, 10 to 20 years old, five-foot-three to five-foot-eight and between 90 and 180 pounds.

The incidents occurred:

  • at 3 p.m. June 3 in the 2900 block of South Dr. Martin Luther King Drive
  • at 9:00 p.m. June 3 in the 2900 block of South Michigan Avenue
  • Between 10:30 a.m. and 10:35 a.m. June 4 in the 2600 block of South Michigan Avenue
  • at 4:45 p.m.  June 7 in the 2900 block of South Indiana Avenue

Police ask residents to remain calm if ever confronted by an offender and to remember any unique characteristics. To report suspicious activity, contact the Bureau of Detectives at 312-747-8382.
