RIVER NORTH — Magda Saez, of River North, has been found safe after going missing for nearly a week, her family said.

Saez, 30, was last seen Sunday morning walking near Goose Island, a walk she took after leaving home without her phone, keys or cash, said Orlando Saez, her father.

By Friday morning Saez's family and friends reported via Facebook that Saez — nicknamed "Maggie" — had been found safe.

"We're overwhelmed," Orlando Saez said. He declined to disclose exactly when and where Saez was found.

"She's safe and we're happy about that," he said.

Police put out a missing person alert for Saez on Monday, but her friends and family took the search into their own hands, setting up a Facebook page and searching "hot zones" where they believed Saez could be.

Police had yet to receive an update on Saez as of early Friday afternoon.

Saez, a nurse, moved back to her native Chicago about a year ago after living in Miami, where she was engaged to be married. Saez moved back into her parents River North apartment after the engagement fell apart.

"Her recovery will be a lot quicker now," Orlando Saez said.
