HYDE PARK — A car ad, a heist movie and a sci-fi television show are all moving south for a big week of filming on the south lakefront.

Two of the largest productions in the city, “Widows” and “Electric Dreams,” are in the neighborhood all week and a crew will be shooting a Mercedes-Benz ad on Tuesday.

“Widows,” a heist movie starring Viola Davis and Liam Neeson, wraps up five days of shooting at 1024 E. 50th St. on Tuesday and is moving over to the 4800 block of South Drexel Boulevard for another 10 days of filming.

“Electric Dreams,” an adaption of Philip K. Dick short stories for Amazon, is hitting two locations in Hyde Park for a few days and then is gone. Starting Monday, the show will be filming for two days at the Logan Center for the Arts, 915 E. 60th St., on the University of Chicago campus, and two days outside the McCormick Theological Seminary, 5460 S. University Ave.

The Promontory, 5311 S. Lake Park Ave., will also be the backdrop for a new Mercedes-Benz ad with a Tuesday shoot scheduled that calls for a couple getting out of one of the manufacturer’s cars to go into the restaurant, according to filming permits.

With casting calls still going out for “Electric Dreams” and “Widows,” it’s not unlikely the productions will again return to the neighborhood.
