CHICAGO — Trovontez Morris, 22, was shot to death and another man wounded Monday in Burnside, officials said.

At 12:38 p.m., the men were walking down the street in the 8900 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue when someone in a light-colored car shot at the men, police said.

Morris was hit in his chest and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, police said.

Morris, of the 4600 block of West 87th Street, was pronounced dead at 1:12 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed he died from multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.

The other man, 36, was hit in his left thigh and possibly had his right thigh grazed by a bullet, police said. The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where his condition was not available but police said he was listed as "stable."

No one was in custody.
