CHICAGO — Lakeview and Uptown businesses have been hit by three robberies since mid-May, police said.

During the robberies, a man walked into a business, ordered items, then implied he had a weapon and took items from victims, according to a Chicago Police business alert. During a robbery on Tuesday, the man dragged a sales clerk behind a counter while holding a knife and stole liquor and cigarettes before running away.

The robberies occurred:

• 3 a.m. May 13 in the 3900 block of North Sheridan Road

• 2:34 a.m. Tuesday in the 2800 block of North Ashland Avenue

The man has been described as white or Latino, 30-40 years old, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-11 and 200-280 pounds, police said.

The man wore a black baseball cap with a red bill and "23" on it during two robberies, police said, and during another robbery he wore a blue Cubs baseball hat. He has also worn a black jacket or sweater, gray T-shirt, black or tan shorts and black gym shoes.

Anyone with information about the robberies was asked to call police at 312-744-8263.
