Weekend Shootings Kill 4 People, Wound 37, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings over the weekend killed four people and wounded 37, police said.

One person has been slain and eight wounded in shootings since Sunday.

• At 2:39 p.m. Sunday, an 18-year-old man was shot dead in Austin. A 15-year-old boy was wounded in the shooting.

In non-fatal shootings:

• At 1:49 a.m. Monday, a 16-year-old boy was shot in East Side, police said. The boy was a passenger in a car in the 10600 block of South Ewing Avenue when someone in a silver-colored car fired shots.

The boy was hit in his left shoulder and he took himself to Trinity Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

• At 11:40 p.m. Sunday, a 30-year-old man was shot in Austin, police said. The man was standing in an alley in the first block of North Lockwood Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain.

The man was hit in his right leg and he took himself to West Suburban Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

The man was a documented gang member, a police source said.

• At 4:53 p.m., a 41-year-old man and 38-year-old man were shot in West Englewood, police said. The two were in the 6700 block of South Wolcott Avenue when they were hit.

The 41-year-old man was shot in his left foot and he took himself to Holy Cross Hospital, police said. The other man was hit in his right shoulder and his left knee and he was taken to Holy Cross Hospital. The men's conditions were not available but they were listed as "stable," police said.

• At 1:30 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot in Englewood, police said. The boy was walking in the 6100 block of South Union Avenue when someone fired shots at him.

The boy was hit in his back and he took himself to St. Bernard Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

• At 11:42 a.m., a 34-year-old man and 31-year-old man were wounded in a shooting in Roseland, police said. The two were in the 10700 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue when they were shot.

The 34-year-old man was hit twice in his left leg and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

The 31-year-old man had his right leg grazed by a bullet and he was treated at the scene and refused further treatment, police said.

No one was in custody in these shootings.

Shootings killed two people and wounded 22 between Saturday and Sunday, and one person was killed and seven wounded in shootings from Friday to Saturday.
