CHICAGO — Jerrelle Johnson Jr., 18, was shot dead in Austin and a 15-year-old boy was wounded in the attack Sunday, officials said.

At 2:39 p.m., the man and boy were in the 100 block of North Parkside Avenue when they were shot, police said. The man was hit in his back.

Johnson, of the 300 block of South Mozart, was pronounced dead at 2:52 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed he died of a gunshot wound in his torso in a homicide.

The boy was hit in his shin and he was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

The boy was uncooperative with investigators, a police source said.

No one was in custody.

No further information was immediately available.
