Jamari Richmond, 18, Killed In Mother's Day Shooting

CHICAGO — Jamari Richmond, 18, was shot dead in Englewood on Sunday afternoon, officials said.

At 2:43 p.m., the man was playing basketball in the 7300 block of South Union Avenue when someone in a passing car fired shots, police said. The man was hit in his head and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition.

Richmond, of the 7300 block of South Union Avenue, was pronounced dead at 5:06 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Just an hour before his death, Richmond posted photos of his mother to Facebook in a tribute for the holiday.

"Happy Mothers Day," he wrote. "You a true one."

No one was in custody.
