LINCOLN SQUARE — One day, future generations will appreciate the fashion trend that was acid-washed jeans.

Hideous or not, styles of clothing — precisely because they're dated — can help amateur genealogists identify the decade or even specific year of vintage family photos.

Historian Julia Johnas will offer tips on how to follow the fashion clues during a discussion scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sulzer Library, 4455 N. Lincoln Ave.
