CHICAGO — A car and CTA bus crash left four people dead Sunday morning on the Near West Side, police said.
At 5:55 a.m., a fast-moving car hit a parked car in the 2600 block of West Madison Street, and the driver lost control, crossed the center lane and hit a bus head-on, police said.
All four people in the car were pronounced dead, police said. Ashley Moore, 25, of the 2700 block West Lexington Street, was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:36 a.m., police said. Tycika Fairley, 22, also of the 2700 block of West Lexington Street, was taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center and pronounced dead at 6:35 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. Two other victims were taken to Stroger Hospital where they were also pronounced dead. Their names were not available.
The bus driver and four passengers sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
A neighbor told WGN News that the sound of the crash woke them up.
"It's sad some mothers have to wake up to this on a Sunday. It's sad, very sad," Malinda Demery told the station.
