CHICAGO — A 45-year-old man shot himself in his groin in Jefferson Park on Friday, police said.
Originally, police said that at 1 p.m. the man was in an alley in the 4800 block of West Argyle Street when he heard shots and felt pain. Later, a police source said the man couldn't say how he'd been shot and the wound appeared to have been self-inflicted.
The man taken to St. Francis Hospital in serious condition, police said.
The man was a documented gang member, a police source said, and he was uncooperative with officers.
