CHICAGO — Do you flex in your bathroom mirror every morning, wishing you had a wider audience to admire your Adonis-like physique?
If so, it's not too late to register for a statewide competition of the National Physique Committee, described by one organizer as the "biggest organization in the world, as far as amateur bodybuilding goes," coming to the Copernicus Center, 5216 W. Lawrence Ave., in Jefferson Park on Saturday.
The competition will unfold as two public shows, with "pre-judging" starting at 10 a.m. The main event run will run from 5- 10:30 p.m., and it promises to feature a "special guest poser."
Categories for the competition include Teen Men, Novice Men and Women, Men's Classic Physique, Bikini Physique for women, and the purely muscle mass-focused Bodybuilding, according to the event page.
The selected winners will advance to a national competition, where they can spar for a coveted "professional bodybuilding card," an organizer said.
Tickets can be bought online at $25 for the morning show, and $50 for the evening show.
Those who want to throw their sculpted bodies into the competition have until 7 p.m. Friday to submit their names along with a $100 entrance fee at USA Gym in southwest suburban Bridgeview. Contestants are allowed to lather themselves in "light oil" for the competition, but no tanning lotion.
