CHICAGO — A man robbed two businesses in the Near West Side in quick succession earlier this month, police said.

During the robberies, the man walked into the business, jumped over the counter, took out a gun or implied he had a gun and then told an employee to give him cash from the register, according to a Chicago Police business alert.

The robberies occurred:

• 1:25 a.m. April 4 in the 1800 block of South Western Avenue

• 1:30 a.m. April 4 in the 2300 block of West Cermak Road

The thief was described as a Latino man who was 20-30 years old, 5-foot-9, 190 pounds and had a tattoo on his face, police said. The man wore a black baseball cap, blue hooded sweatshirt or jacket with black and white trim on the side and blue jeans.

Anyone with information about the robberies was asked to call police at 312-747-8382.
