THE LOOP — Taco Bell is bringing its boozy slushies Downtown.

The restaurant has applied for a liquor license for a new Taco Bell Cantina at 407 S. Dearborn St., city records show. Laura Nedbal, a Taco Bell spokeswoman, confirmed the chain's plans for a new restaurant serving alcohol but said other details, such as the opening date, have yet to be determined.

Taco Bell debuted Taco Bell Cantina in 2015 in Wicker Park, seeking to attract more young people in big cities. The cantina has big-screen TVs and serves slushies mixed with rum, tequila and vodka.  It also sells beer, wine and sangria.

The Loop cantina will open on the ground floor of the Old Colony building, a landmarked office tower that recently was converted to high-end student apartments.

Eater on Wednesday first reported news of the liquor license application.
