CHICAGO — A McKinley Park couple caught a schoolgirl stealing a package from their home on camera.

At 4:51 p.m. Monday, a woman reported she had surveillance video of three girls taking a package from her home in the 2000 block of West 34th Street, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The video, which has been shared widely online, shows three girls in school uniforms passing the fenced front yard of a home. One of the girls stops, looks up to the home and tries to open the fence's gate.

The girl then steps up to the fence and grabs a nearby sign and uses it to move the package to the fence. She grabs the package through the fence and lifts it up before tossing it over the fence's top and running away with it.

The video was posted online, where it has been watched more than 75,000 times and shared more than 900 times on Facebook.
