LINCOLN PARK — A firefighter was hospitalized after helping to extinguish a multi-building fire on West St. James Place early Tuesday morning.

According to Fire Department, the blaze started at 425 W. St. James Place and spread to two other adjacent buildings on both sides. Multiple firehouses were called in. It was extinguished about 2:30 a.m.

According to Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford, a firefighter was treated for "a minor medical issue" at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and has already been released.

No other injuries were reported, and most of the damage appeared to be inside as windows in the buildings were being boarded up later Tuesday.

The Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
