Dan Ryan Ramp Shooting Leaves Man Dead; 2 Officers Injured Driving To Scene

CHICAGO — A 28-year-old man was killed Wednesday in a shooting on the Dan Ryan Expressway. One other person was wounded, and two police officers were injured in a crash while responding.

The shooting happened at 5:12 p.m. on an Interstate 94 exit at Cermak Road, according to State Police news.

Chicago Fire Department spokesman Jeff Lyle said one man was killed in the shooting and another man was wounded and taken to Mercy Hospital. It was not immediately clear if the surviving victim had been shot.

Jeremy Scullark, of the 800 block of North Rockwell Street, was pronounced dead at 5:24 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The survivor's injuries were not life-threatening, State Police said.

Northbound lanes at Cermak were temporarily closed after the shooting while officers investigated.

Two Chicago police officers who were responding to the shooting got into a car crash in the 3100 block of South Shields Avenue, the Police Department said. The officers were taken to an area hospital. One was seriously injured, and the other was in good condition.

Two other people who were wounded in the crash were taken to Northwestern Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
