DOWNTOWN — It'll hit 80 degrees in Chicago this weekend, though the weekend will be punctuated by rain showers.

Temperatures are expected to hit the mid-50s Friday, before jumping to the upper 70s to low 80s on Saturday, said Kevin Donofrio, a National Weather Service meteorologist.

The city will cool down Sunday, when temperatures fall to the mid-60s, and they're expected to dip to the low 50s Monday.

"Most of Saturday looks dry and very warm," Donofrio said. "Saturday will be very warm, but it will be kind of breezy."

The weekend will see on-and-off rain and storms, Donofrio said, with the city expected to get a quarter-inch to half-inch of rain.

Rain will start Friday night and possibly last into Saturday morning, though Donofrio said Saturday should mostly be "dry and mild and breezy."

The heaviest rainfall is expected on Saturday night, and there will be "lingering rain" into Sunday morning, Donofrio said.

"But Sunday afternoon, it certainly looks like we're going to clear out and we're going to be warmer than what we normally are," Donofrio said. "It doesn't look to be a complete washout weekend."

This time of year typically sees temperatures hanging around the upper 50s to low 60s in Chicago, Donofrio said.
