LINCOLN SQUARE — The Chicago Public Library is upgrading the system it uses to manage patron services, which in the long run will mean greater efficiencies, according to library officials, but in the short term will mean a disruption to things like holds.
From 5 a.m. April 13 through April 21, patrons won't be able to:
• Place or manage holds.
• Find up-to-date information about the availability of materials.
• Pay fines or log in to their accounts on the Chicago Public Library website.
All other services — including using the library's public computers — will be available.
But in order to check out materials, use computers or pay for printing, patrons will need to present their library card. Staff won't be able to look up a patron's account using any other form of ID.
