CHICAGO — A 66-year-old man has died after his car was hit by a police squad car on Monday night in Roseland, police said.

At 10:40 p.m., officers were driving to a call of shots fired when they went through an intersection near the 10500 block of South Michigan Avenue and hit a Honda Coupe, police said.

The driver of the Honda, the 66-year-old man, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, police said. He was later pronounced dead.

The officers involved int he crash were taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital with minor injuries, police said.

The officers did have their "emergency equipment" on while driving through the intersection, police said. Major Accidents was investigating.
