CHICAGO — Darmayah Smith, 16, died the morning after he was shot in Roseland, officials say.
At 6:23 p.m. Wednesday, Smith was in the 11000 block of South Edbrooke Avenue when someone walked up and fired shots, police said.
He was hit in his torso and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, police said.
Smith, of the 100 block of East 113th Street, was pronounced dead at 3:58 a.m. Thursday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
No one was in custody.
