CHICAGO — A man stole a car in Back of the Yards — with a 60-year-old woman and 1-year-old girl were inside, police said.
At 4 p.m. March 23, a woman got out of her car in the 1700 block of West 47th Street so she could go into a business, according to a Chicago Police community alert. The woman left her car running with the 60-year-old woman and baby inside.
A man got into the car and started driving north on Hermitage Avenue, police said. There was a "brief struggle" and the 60-year-old woman was able to escape with the baby in the 4600 block of South Hermitage Avenue while the man drove off in the car.
A video provided by Chicago Police shows the younger woman getting out of the car with a boy. A person leans out the car's back passenger window while a man looks around and then walks past and gets into the driver's seat. The back passenger door swings several times while the man tries to drive away.
The video also shows the car pulling up along a sidewalk as a woman and the baby get out.

The man was described as black or black Hispanic, 35-46 years old, 5-foot-3 and 150 pounds, police said. He wore a blue Adidas jacket and jeans.
The car was a black 2007 Jeep with license plate Z650654. It was missing its rear bumper and one of its rear taillights was not working, police said.
