Officers Hospitalized After Driver Crashes Into Squad Car, Police Say

By Kelly Bauer | March 29, 2017 8:00am

CHICAGO — Officers were hospitalized after a car crashed into their squad car in Belmont Cragin on Tuesday night, police said.

At 11:55 p.m., the officers were in their squad car, driving in the 5700 block of West Grand Avenue, when a 17-year-old driving a Nissan Altima didn't stop at a stop sign and crashed into the squad car, police said. The car was pushed into a building, causing structural damage.

The officers and the teen were taken to area hospitals, where their conditions were not available but they were listed as "stable," police said. There were no other reported injuries.

The teen was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign and filing to yield to an emergency vehicle.
