Cars Left Running, Unattended Stolen 6 Times In Near West Side

CHICAGO — Thieves have stolen cars left running six times around the Near West Side in the last few weeks, police said.

During the thefts, thieves got into the cars — which had been left running and unattended — and drove away, according to a Chicago Police community alert.

The thefts occurred:

• 7;45 p.m. Feb. 26 in the 2300 block of West Harrison Street

• 10:30 p.m. March 7 in the 200 block of North Western Avenue

• 3 p.m. March 9 in the 1800 block of West Ohio Street

• 7 p.m. March 17 in the 900 block of West Washington Boulevard

• 7:07 p.m. March 17 in the 1200 block of West Randolph Street

• 1:14 p.m. March 20 in the 1300 block of West Randolph Street

In some cases, the thieves were described as one or two black men who were about 22 years old, weighed 125 pounds and were 6-foot with brown eyes and black hair, police said. A dark-colored Dodge Durango and white Jaguar were possibly involved in the thefts, police said.
