CHICAGO — Cedric Adkins-Malone, 22, died five days after a shooting in Roseland, officials said.

At 2:16 p.m. Friday, the man was working on a car outside in the 10200 block of South Calumet Avenue when someone in a gangway across the street fired shots at him, police said.

The man was hit in his neck and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

Adkins-Malone, of the 2300 block of East 98th Street, was pronounced dead at 5:44 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed he died from a gunshot wound in his neck in a homicide.

No one was in custody.
