CHICAGO — Chicago got hit with its biggest snowfall of the year (and season) Monday and Tuesday.

The storm, which at times brought white-out conditions, snarled traffic across the area and even held up an expecting mother from getting to the hospital. She delivered her baby on Lake Shore Drive.

The snowfall total at Midway broke a record for March. A lake effect snow warning remained in effect until 6 p.m.

As of 7 p.m. Tuesday, when the storm ended, here's how much snow had accumulated since Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service:

O'Hare Airport: 7.7 inches

Midway: 9.3 inches

Romeoville: 4.1 inches

The storm came after the city saw no measurable snowfall in January and February for the first time in history.
