WEST LOOP — A fast-casual stir-fry and salad chain plans to open its first Midwest location in Fulton Market this year.

Philadelphia-based Honeygrow plans to open in a new construction building at 179 N. Morgan St. this fall, a company representative confirmed Wednesday. The 2,000-square-foot shop will neighbor burger giant Shake Shack and Do-Rite Donuts in the single-story Shapack Partners development.

Honeygrow's menu focuses on stir-frys and salads and offers a variety of vegan and gluten-free options. The company touts a "honeybar" where customers can create desserts using different kinds of honey and fruit.

CEO Justin Rosenberg told Crain's that the West Loop is an "ideal first location" in Chicago for the brand.

"Chicago has a good fast-casual scene, but there isn't a lot of fast-casual in the West Loop. It's an ideal first location for us, in an emerging, amazing neighborhood," he said.

Rosenberg is expected to open other Honeygrow restaurants in Chicago following the Fulton Market shop, a company spokeswoman said.

Founded in Philadelphia in 2012, Honeygrow currently operates 15 restaurants on the East Coast, and plans to open new locations in Philadelphia and Brooklyn, New York City soon.
