After Being Forced To Drink 'Caustic Substance,' Darius Ellis, 26, Dies

CHICAGO — Darius Ellis, 26, died Monday after being forced to drink a "caustic substance," officials said.

The incident happened in the 6500 block of South Bishop Street. The man drank an "unknown substance," police said.

Ellis was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:26 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

An autopsy showed Ellis died from complications of "forcible administration of a caustic substance" in a homicide, according to the Medical Examiner's Office.

No one was in custody.
