Back Of The Yards Soup Kitchen Expands Hours To Serve More People

CHICAGO — A homeless shelter on the South Side has expanded its soup kitchen hours to help more people.

Su Casa, 5045 S. Laflin St., offers warm meals, groceries, clothes and necessities through its soup kitchen, called Frieda's Place. A grant from the Greater Chicago Food Depository has made it possible for Frieda's Place to open 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and 10 a.m.-noon Saturdays, according to a Su Casa news release.

The soup kitchen was only open 10 a.m.-noon Wednesdays in the past, Su Casa said. The expanded hours will help it reach people who work and schoolchildren.

More information about Su Casa is available online.
