WEST RIDGE — A CVS store and pharmacy on Devon Avenue is set to be among 11 Chicago locations closing by late spring, according to the company.

As part of the company's plan to close dozens of its retail stores, it made the "difficult business decision" to include the 2825 W. Devon Ave. location in West Ridge, spokeswoman Stephanie Cunha said.

Patient files have already been transferred to the Walgreens pharmacy at 6140 N. Western Ave. so customers can stay within the neighborhood.

Employees of the store will be sent to some of the other 80 CVS stores that will remain in Chicago, Cunha said.

In December, Dave Denton, CVS Health's executive vice president and chief financial officer, told investors that the company planned to close a total of 70 stores, 11 of which are in Chicago, as part of a plan that will save the company an expected $265 million by the end of 2017.

Over the next five years, the company hopes to save $3 billion through restructuring.

CVS Health also acquired the in-store pharmacies at retailer Target in December 2015. A CVS pharmacy is included in plans for a proposed Target slated to be built between the current Rogers Park and Edgewater CVS locations.
