MAYFAIR — How will immigration policy affect Chicago residents and what are the rights of refugees and green card holders?

These are just two of the topics that will be addressed at a panel discussion, “Immigration, Refugees and the State of Our Union," scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at the Irish American Heritage Center, 4626 N. Knox Ave.

Participants are expected to include: Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer; Mona Noriega, commissioner of Human Services for the City of Chicago; Andy Kang, legal director of Asian Americans Advancing Justice; Lisa Palumbo of the Illinois Migrant Legal Assistance Project; Kalman Resnick, immigration attorney; Pastor Tom Terrell of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church; Shabbir Patel of Makki Masjid; Abrar Quadar of the Muslim Community Center; and Michael Collins of the Chicago Irish Immigrant Support Center.

The event is free and open to the public.
