ROGERS PARK — An eight-story apartment building and parking garage planned by Col. Jennifer Pritzker's Tawani Enterprises is seeing signs of life again after being first announced nearly two years ago

Ald. Joe Moore (49th) announced last week he will hold a meeting on the 1313 W. Morse Ave. development at 7 p.m. Tuesday inside the Mayne Stage — another Pritzker-owned venture across the street at 1328 W. Morse Ave.

Developers were given the zoning changes they needed from the city in September 2015, though there's been little movement at the site since the former strip mall on the property was demolished in August that same year.

Moore said developers plan to break ground in March with a target opening date of summer 2018.

The property is slated to become a 45-unit apartment building with dwellings on the top five floors and 75 parking spaces on the first three.

Tawani's original plan called for 25 spaces to be dedicated to the building's residents with another 50 set aside as hourly paid spaces to be shared between the community and Mayne Stage patrons — though the entertainment venue has significantly changed since the residential proposal was first announced.

Mayne Stage ended its music and theater scene in April 2016r, deciding to refocus the business as a private, rentable venue instead.

In January 2016 its built-in eatery, Act One Pub, also closed and has since sat vacant.

Representatives from Tawani's construction team will be at Tuesday's community meeting.
