NORTH LAWNDALE — A 26-year-old man has been charged with murder in the triple shooting that killed a 2-year-old and his uncle on Valentine's Day in North Lawndale.

Devon Swan, 26, was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of 2-year-old Lavontay White Jr. and his uncle, Lazaric Collins, 26. A third victim, Collins' pregnant 20-year-old girlfriend, was wounded in the shooting that was recorded on Facebook Live.

Additional arrests are expected in the case, said Anthony Guglielmi, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

Police Supt. Eddie Johnson, Police Department detectives and the Rev. Michael Pfleger are expected to provide more details on the the charges at a noon press conference Saturday.

Police said they believe Collins was the intended target of the attack, which stemmed from a dispute between Collins and a group of individuals.

Swan has been arrested nine times previously on a variety of offenses, including armed robbery, illegal gun charges and narcotics possession.

About 1:30 p.m. Feb. 14, a gunman opened fire on Collins, the pregnant 20-year-old and LaVontay as they drove in an alley behind the 2300 block of South Kenneth Avenue, police said.

Lavontay was shot in his head. Though the boy was briefly revived, he died at Stroger Hospital at 2:43 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Collins, whom police described as a documented gang member, also was shot in his head.

Collins' girlfriend was shot in her stomach but lived. Her unborn child also survived, police said.
