CHICAGO — A shooting in Austin killed Iveill Hudson, 20, and wounded a 60-year-old woman Thursday afternoon, officials said.
At 1:45 p.m., the two were in the 5700 block of West Chicago Avenue when someone walked up, took out a gun and fired shots, police said.
A 20-year-old man, who had been standing on the corner talking on a cellphone, was hit in his stomach and leg and taken to Loyola Hospital in critical condition, police said.
Hudson, of the 5800 block of West Ohio Street, was pronounced dead at 5:04 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
The woman was hit in her leg and taken to Stroger Hospital, where her condition was not available but she was listed as "stable," police said.
Hudson was a documented gang member, a police source said, and the woman was not an intended target.
No one was in custody.
