LAKEVIEW — A fire broke out Wednesday night at ROCKS Lakeview, a neighborhood haunt near Boystown known for its whiskey and burgers.
The fire closed the restaurant at 3463 N. Broadway, ROCKS posted late Wednesday.
"Word travels fast but if you didn't hear, we had a fire," the message reads. "Everyone's safe but we'll be down for a bit. Stay tuned, folks."
Chicago firefighters responded around 7 p.m. as a billowing cloud of smoke rose over Broadway. No one was taken to the hospital for injuries, the Fire Department said.
Onlookers snapped photos and wished the restaurant well.

Fire destroyed Rocks Lakeview today. It was an old hangout when I lived in Boystown. I hope staffers get hired elsewhere soon.

ROCKS, which debuted in Lincoln Park, opened in Lakeview in 2008. While its Lincoln Park location eventually moved to North Center, the Lakeview eatery expanded to three storefronts over the years.
Open until at least 2 a.m. daily, ROCKS claims to have sold more than 95,000 of its signature ROCKS burgers, topped with bacon, pepper jack and a side of giardiniera.
Other favorites include the White Trash nachos and the Leroy Brown macaroni and cheese pulled pork sandwich.
