DOWNTOWN — The city could get record-breaking warm weather this weekend.
The "spring-like" weather will start Friday, said AccuWeather meteorologist Paul Walker, when the city will warm up to an expected high of 59 degrees. That's just 1 degree short of the record of 60 degrees for Feb. 17, which was set in 1880.
It'll be even warmer on Saturday, when the city is expected to hit 61 degrees, Walker said. That's also 1 degree short of the record for Feb. 18, which was set in 1981.

Chicago will be a bit further from breaking the record for Sunday, though, as the city will hit 62 degrees and the record sits at 65 from 1930, Walker said.
There will be "plenty of sunshine each day," Walker said. "Nights will be partly cloudy at worst."
The normal high temperature for this time of year is about 36 degrees, Walker said. Next week should continue to be warmer than usual, he said.
